Last year, New Minas author Jim Prime introduced me to the inimitable Donnie Lightfoot. Donnie had been a barber in Wolfville, Nova Scotia for sixty-two years. His goal was to pass his story to his children and grandchildren. Together he and Jim crafted his collected tales and wisdoms into a book that would be known as The Barber of Mud Creek. Part biography, part town history; their book is also a touching tribute to Betty, the love of his life.
The Barber of Mud Creek is also the project that launched Clairmont Publishing Services. Donnie and Jim had a completed manuscript that needed to be edited, formatted, and designed to fit a traditional paperback. They asked if I could help, and I immediately saw the enormous potential for their work. We planned every step together in September of 2017, and by the start of November we had a finished, polished book. Donnie was able to share his wonderful story with his family and friends, and The Barber of Mud Creek was officially launched at @boxofdelights76 on November 4, 2017. Copies are also sold at @lwwines.
After reflecting on power that came with bringing Donnie's words to life and delivering a physical copy of his book, I created a service to help other authors reach their publication goals. The best part? You remain in complete control of your story and how you want it to be told, we're just here to help guide you through your journey. If you or someone you know has a story to tell, we can help. You may be surprised how much your life changes when you #tellyourstory.
